Miley Cyrus performed her newest single, "Party in the U.S.A.," at TEEN CHOICE 2009 airing Monday, Aug. 10 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Additionally, the casts of "Twilight" (Robert Pattison, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed and Kellan Lutz) and FOX's new comedy series GLEE (Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Jenna Ushkowitz, Chris Colver, Amber Riley and Kevin McHale) will appear on the two-hour special.
Hosted by the Jonas Brothers, TEEN CHOICE celebrates the hottest teen icons in film, television, music, sports and fashion. The coolest stars will receive coveted Teen Choice surfboard awards in categories such as Choice Hotties, Choice Movie Liplock and Choice Twit.
Additionally, David Beckham, Zac Efron, Megan Fox, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Morrison, Keke Palmer, Alexis Bledel, Chace Crawford, Leighton Meester, Ellen DeGeneres and Ashley will join previously announced participants Kristen Bell, Jordana Brewster, Vanessa Hudgens, Shawn Johnson, Daren Kagasoff, Kim Kardashian, Jennette McCurdy and Emma Roberts. Additional performers and presenters to be announced.
Miley Cyrus is a multi-platinum recording artist and the youngest recording artist ever to have four No. 1 albums in less than three years. She stars in the hit cable series "Hannah Montana," currently in its third season, and recently appeared in "Hannah Montana: The Movie," which topped the box office its opening weekend. She is the author of "Miles to Go," the best-selling story of her record-setting successes in TV, music and film and her rise to global fame from her small-town Tennessee roots. In addition, Cyrus and designer Max Azria of apparel house BCBGMAXAZRIAGROUP, Inc. have teamed up to create Miley Cyrus & Max Azria, a new apparel line launching this August that will be sold exclusively in Walmart stores. Cyrus is currently filming "The Last Song," written by Nicholas Sparks, and is set to embark on a 45-city North American tour this September.
And for the Early Winners...
Leading the nominations with 12 nods, "Twilight" has collected its first two awards at this year's Teen Choice Awards. The first film of the "Twilight Saga" series grabbed Choice Movie: Fresh Face for male and female actors. The male category went to its young star Taylor Lautner, and the female kudo was given to Ashley Greene.
Lautner won over Taylor Kitsch of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", Dev Patel of "Slumdog Millionaire", Chris Pine of "Star Trek" and Sam Worthington of "Terminator Salvation". Meanwhile, Greene's competitors for the Fresh Face Female included Emily Osment and co-star Nikki Reed.
Beside "Twilight", several other early winners at the show have been announced as well. "Up" was hailed Choice Movie: Comedy, "The Proposal" grabbed Choice Movie: Romance title, "My Sister's Keeper" took home Choice Movie: Drama and "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" nabbed Choice Movie: Action /Adventure.
In the performers category, Hugh Jackman followed Zac Efron's footsteps of taking a surfboard for Choice Movie Actor this year. While Efron got a hold of Choice Movie Actor: Comedy and Music/Dance, the star of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" collected only Choice Movie Actor: Action Adventure.
The Ultimate winner of Teen Choice Award 2009 was Britney Spears.
